Our memorable cocktail moments

Here at Icely done HQ, indulging in a delicious cocktail is a pastime and passion we all share. However, we believe that cocktails should be more than just a drink. A truly great cocktail should also be an eye-opening, mind-expanding, and in if you’re really lucky brain-exploding experience.

To kick off our new monthly blog series, indulge us as we share with you some of our personal recent cocktail experiences, that have created some remarkable moments for our team.

Charlie (Events & Commercial Controller)

A recent memory for me was making cocktails for the family at Christmas. I made a list of 4 cocktails, got all the ingredients set up, and then made them to order for everyone. Everyone had a great time, and it was a nice change from the usual staples of wine and Baileys. Also ended up finding my mum’s new favourite cocktail – The French Martini. Which she now drinks at every family occasion!

Alex (Head of Operations)

I have so many it’s difficult to know where to start!

On a trip to NYC, I spent the day walking around Manhattan on my own and ended up in Dead Rabbit drinking their Irish Coffees chatting to locals. It was a real New York moment.

Another was my first trip to Nightjar in East London, I remember drinking a chocolate boulevardier with a frozen chocolate teddy in the bottom of the coupe – it stuck with me and opened up my eyes: classics can be remixed with a pinch of fun.

And most recently I was at Taylor + Elementary and had a One-Gulp Martini’ with blue cheese stuffed olive. I was just constantly being surprised by how good it was. The blue cheese addition was such a surprise, but it worked perfectly.

Being a huge football fan, I think back to the final of the Champions League last year: Inter Milan vs. Man City.

I support Inter, and I brought our Blends home that day. All my friends loved them, and we made lots of frozen cocktails and all my pals loved them. Inter didn’t win sadly, but I still loved spending time with my friends and showing off our Blends. There is nothing better drinking a frozen cocktail with a friend or two over a big game.. (yep, it beats beer). And they even taste great when your team loses. Softens the blow.

Sallianne (Head of On Trade)

After accepting a role at Icely Done, I decided to take some Blends away and mix some cocktails for my family (we were celebrating my Dad's 70th).

We all enjoyed some fabulous serves and loved the Ginger and Lemon. After a lovely evening of cocktails, I awoke to find the family getting ready for breakfast with the kids about to tuck into a delicious brekkie. "Where's the apple juice come from?" I asked my parents. "It was in the fridge," replied my Mum. As I look to the table, I see a glass full of pure, Ginger & lemon Blend, brimming to the top of my daughter's glass... I yelled "NOOO" as the glass hit her lips. A silence fell across the room as her eyes became bigger and bigger, and she started yelling "Hot, Hot, Hot."

Maybe not so remarkable, but certainly memorable.

Stephanie (Office Manager)

My go-to cocktail that never lets me down when I want a good night with the girls is a good old classic Passionfruit & Vanilla! Aka Pornstar!

The smooth sweet taste with the quick shot of Prosecco never fails over a good old girl chat! If I have friends over for dinner and a chat up, I love to mix up a Margarita with some chicken fajitas! This never lets down the crowd and always reminds us of Ross from Friends! E is for how lov..Ely!!

Dee (Marketing Controller)

For me, cocktails come hand in hand when celebrating or treating myself. Some of my favourite cocktail moments are with my university friends, drinking Pornstar Martinis in London where we would meet every other month (we all live outside of London) and it’s our midpoint.

I also really enjoy mixing up cocktails at home and entertaining friends – trying out different flavours and experimenting with the Blends!

Natalie (Office Supervisor)

Last month I went to the US. We went out for my mum's 60th at Dolly Parton's Stampede in Tennessee and we had this amazing Apple Pie Moonshine cocktail.

Think spiced dark rum, Tennessee bourbon cola, and their secret apple pie mix. Served in a boot-shaped glass we got to take home. It made the day really special.

Lefti (The Founder)

I was recently sitting in one of my favourite bars (Satan's Whiskers), which is one of the top bars in London, owned by my friend Kevin. One after-work cocktail turned into a few drinks and a few hours… and it made me really appreciate the experience and reflect on how cocktails can bring great moments. It really made me remember why we do what we do.
