Bar efficiency ideas
We’ve almost finished doing the rounds of our ‘Meet the Team’ blogs, with only a couple of Icely Done staff members left to go.
Teaching Bar efficiency ideas.
Today we’re meeting Jace, one of our Kitchen Assistants and newly established Accounts Apprentice. Jace has been part of the Icely Done team since September 2018, and through his hard work and turning his hand to any given task – he has definitely come into his own!
Prior to joining the team, Jace worked jobs in retail, and much like many of our team members – he undertook bar work before starting with us at Icely Done. Through his bar work at the Rezidor Hotel Group, he was able to gain experience of working in the drinks industry, and then began to develop a passion for all things booze.
From Blends to Bookeeping
Not only does Jace contribute to the delicious blends being made in the kitchen, he has recently embarked on a course in AAT Bookeeping, as he was keen to learn a trade. He now works in the office once a week assisting Stef and his sister Josie (following in the footsteps, we see) with a range of accounts related activities, such as reconciling, invoicing for customers and suppliers, and making enquiries – you may have even dealt with Jace yourself if you have an account with us!
By being able to come up into the office and learn the ins and outs accounts, Jace is able to put his studies at college into practice, and gain experience in an Accounts Apprentice role. It’s fair to say he’s settled into it quite nicely, and is enjoying the career progression. The boy definitely has brains!
A Fan of the Culture
Work aside, Jace has become an integral part of the team when it comes to our staff culture; regularly contributing to our ‘board meetings’ with ideas of what we can do as a group, and what we can introduce at work to make improvements. As we say , ‘end every day having improved on the last’. The culture is definitely one of his favourite things about working at Icely Done, especially being able to play football and basketball at lunchtime. He says he’s never worked anywhere like here before – and we’re certainly glad to have retail beat!
Although he loves working at Icely Done, he does say at times it drives him nuts – especially when it comes to having to label bottles! When he’s not labelling bottles, he’s lifting heavy boxes, stirring mixes, and playing a little part in everything. He certainly likes getting stuck in!
Work Hard, Play Hard
When Jace isn’t at work he’s enjoying darts, football (Tottenham specifically, but we won’t focus too much on that), cooking and taking trips to the cinema. He also won’t say no getting on a sesh with the lads, especially with a pint of Heineken in his hand, or a Whyte & Mackay whiskey served straight, to round off the night. He also loves hanging out with his little Frenchie, Louie – who we can confirm is a solid bloke!
Jace’s words to live by? “It’s better to fail aiming high, than succeed aiming low”, our team members continue to get even more profound! Well, we’ll definitely cheers to that.
We’ll continue to introduce you to the rest of the Icely Done team members over the next few months, so keep an eye out on our future blogs.
